[INSTITUTION] SIFE (STUDENTS IN FREE ENTERPRISE) MEMBERS TEAM-UP TO CAN HUNGER; Participate in International Challenge To Address Hunger

CITY, STATE (DATE, YEAR) – Members of the [Institution] SIFE (Students In Free Enterprise) Team are working to help fight hunger by participating in the 2012 Campbell’s Let’s Can Hunger Challenge.

The Campbell’s Let’s Can Hunger Challenge is a competition sponsored by Campbell Soup Company that challenges SIFE teams in Canada, Mexico and the United States to raise awareness of hunger, translate awareness to action in the form of urgent hunger relief and empower those in need to defeat the cycle of hunger.

Teams are challenged to develop a hunger awareness marketing plan that compels their community to provide urgent hunger relief through the team’s food and fund drives. Teams must also work with food insecure populations to provide knowledge, skills, or resources that empower those populations to raise their quality of life and standard of living.

“Considering the World Health Organization estimates that over 1.2 billion people do not know where their next meal will come from,” said [Name], [SIFE team leadership position],  “Coupled with our current economic climate, it’s more important than ever to lend a helping hand to our neighbors, as well as empower food insecure populations to defeat the cycle of hunger.”

Entries submitted for the Campbell’s Let’s Can Hunger Challenge will be evaluated by a panel of representatives from Campbell Soup Company.  The grand prize winning team will be featured in on www.sife.org. Teams also have the ability to win thousands of dollars in cash prizes.

“Part of our Corporate Social Responsibility is a commitment to address childhood obesity and hunger. Every day, nearly 16,000 children die from hunger-related causes. That’s one child every five seconds. We recognize that we cannot fight hunger by ourselves, and are thrilled to be able to partner with SIFE to make a difference in even more communities as it relates to hunger relief. Since 2009, Campbell’s Let’s Can Hunger program has helped keep this issue at the forefront,” said Denise Morrison, President and CEO, Campbell Soup Company.  “SIFE teams have collectively raised over 2.6 million pounds of food for food banks in the United States, Canada and Mexico since the program’s inception. By leveraging our partnership with SIFE, the scale of our organizations, and our passion to make a difference in the communities we serve, we’ve been able to make an impact in the fight against hunger. I am personally excited to be part of this journey.”
